No. Traditional Peking Duck is not spicy at all. There are no chili peppers or Sichuan peppercorns in the preparation. Its flavor comes from the duck itself, a maltose glaze that crisps the skin, and the sweet bean sauce (甜面酱, tiánmiànjiàng) served alongside. If you're avoiding heat, Peking Duck is one of the safest "famous" dishes to order.

What Does Peking Duck Taste Like?

The magic is in the contrast:
